| Wauchula is the county seat of Hardee County. The estimated population as of 2004 was 4,441. Wauchula is also known as the "Cucumber Capital of the World", even though citrus has become a more important agricultural crop. Wauchula is home to the Florida Institute for Neurological Rehabilitation, a residential therapy facility for those who have suffered debilitating brain trauma.
