| About Crestview |
| Crestview is the county seat of Okaloosa County. It is named so because it is located on the peak of a long range between the Yellow and Shoal rivers which flow almost parallel on the east and west side of the City. Crestview is elevated 235 feet above sea level and is one of the highest points in the state. Annually, it receives 65 inches of rainfall, the most of any city in Florida. Because of its cold winters, it was once known as the "Icebox of Florida." It is also known as the "Hub City" of Northwest Florida. Its population is over 19,000 and it was officially incorporated in 1916.
Through the city runs the CSX, Inc. railroad. The Old Spanish Trail is located parallel to the railroad, extending from Jacksonville west to El Pase, Texas. It is one of the great truck lines of the country.
