| About Islamorada |
| Islamorada, "Village of Islands" is an incorporated village in Monroe County.
Before it was incorporated on November 4, 1997, it was only considered to be on the island of Upper Matecumbe Key. The population was 7,033 as of 2004. Islamorada means "purple isle" and comes from early Spanish explorers in the area. The village has a total area of 7.2 square miles, of which .1 square mile is water. Islamorada is about two hours from the south of Miami Beach.
