| About Pembroke Pines |
Neighboring Cities: Pembroke Park | Cooper City | Hollywood | Miramar | Davie
A city of southeast Florida, Pembroke Pines is a residential suburb between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. A significant retirement community, Pembroke Pines grew rapidly in the late 20th century and more than doubled in size between 1990 and 2000. The campus of Florida International University is located in Pembroke Pines. Pembroke Pines was incorporated in 1960, and took the name Pembroke Pines from its location along Pembroke Road and the many pine trees in the area. But the name Pembroke may date back much further. The name may have been from an early landowner from Britain known as the Earl of Pembroke. |
