Moore Haven is located on Lake Okeechobee and is the county seat of Glades County. Moore Haven was name after its founder, James A. Moore, although when it was booming, it was often called "Little Chicago." The city's total area is 1.1 square miles and about 6.09% of it is water. It has different waterways running through it including Lake Okeechobe and the Caloosahatchee River, as part of the Okeechobee Waterway. Centrally located between Florida's East and West coast, Moore Haven's location provides easy access to spectacular Bass fishing and the Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic Ocean.
